2012 Triumph Bonneville T100 Steve McQueen Edition |
Based on the classic Bonneville T100, just 1,100 of the Steve McQueenTM Edition will be sold worldwide. Featuring a host of modified parts, the design is inspired by the Triumph Trophy TR6 that McQueen insisted on riding during the famous stunt scene in The Great Escape, and features a military-style matte khaki green livery, stencil-style Triumph decal on the tank and the actor’s signature on the side covers.
Featuring a high-specification as standard, the Tiger Explorer debuts Triumph’s new ‘ride-by-wire’ throttle system and includes cruise control, switchable ABS and traction control as standard. The high specification continues in the chassis department with a strong steel chassis and cast alloy wheels, 19” front and 17” rear, the latter showcased thanks to the stylish single-sided swingarm.
Triumph’s T100 features classic 1960’s styling with an 865cc Parallel Twin. The air-cooled, DOHC engine is claimed at 67 horsepower and 43 miles-per gallon. The retro bike uses modern updates like fuel injection (styled to look like a carburetor) and dual-piston Nissin disc brakes front and rear. Twin chrome exhaust headers run down to an under-slung exhaust with dual mufflers. A five-speed manual transmission turns the rear wheel via chain drive.
Only 1100 are being produced WORLDWIDE and will only be available on a pre-order basis. Final MSRP has not been established but will be by end of this year. The standard T100 is $10,299 for the 2-tone model.
